Description for Lewis Center Winter Development League:

For players seeking more basketball development this winter. Designed to challenge players mentally and physically to grow their understanding and skills in the game of basketball. Players will be learning offensive and defensive concepts through layers using 1 v 1, 2 v 2, 3 v 3, and 4 v 4. Shooting instruction, repetition, and weekly take-home workouts will be provided to build daily routines and positive habits. Players will be tracked individually for standings.

 

– Four 2-hour Sessions at Just Hoops on Sunday evenings
– Two Court Time Shooting Sessions at Just Hoops
– Weekly Take-Home Workouts
– Players will be tracked individually for standings
– T-shirt included

Curriculum Designed by Just Hoops Coaches:

BUILD OFFENSIVE
LAYERS:

  • Floor balance & spacing
  • Engage 2 defenders & ways to get the defense to collapse
  • Layers built using 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, & 4v4 actions

BE AN OFFENSIVE THREAT WITHOUT THE BALL:

  • Basket Cuts
  • Screening Principles
  • Ball Reversals
  • Offensive momentum with number 

CREATE OFFENSIVE MOMENTUM:

  • Attacking closeouts
  • Cutting into open space
  • Spacing
  • Screening away from the ball 

AVOID ACTIONS THAT PREVENT OFFENSIVE MOMENTUM:

  • Isolation plays
  • Ball sticks for extended lengths
  • Poor screening
  • Inability to make decisions while attacking off the dribble
  • Slow cutters 

Development Leagues at Just Hoops

JH Developmental leagues are for players who are excited about having fun and learning the game.  Coaches are invested in building up athletes confidence, skills, and IQ.

FOCUS: 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, & Shooting

Just Hoops  Development Leagues are designed for individual improvement. These are not your typical “roll the ball out and play” league, we will be teaching game concepts that will help develop skill and basketball IQ. Athletes need to compete, but they also need to learn how to play the game. These Leagues will provide both aspects to help foster individual improvement.  Leagues include a t-shirt, individual workouts to do in between sessions, as well as shooting sessions to Just Hoops.

Our leagues are held in the Fall, Winter, and Spring.
